Becoming a Member
The CBTC is a national investigator network of academic and physicians and researchers with a special interest in brain tumour. CBTC that was formed in 1998 to develop and promote multi-centre clinical brain tumour research in Canada. Through its business infrastructure, the CBTC enables neurologists to partner more effectively with Industry in the design, evaluation,
budgeting, quality control and conduct of clinical studies. The CBTC provides leadership to ensure that Canada plays a leading role in international clinical brain tumour trials by harnessing the collective neuro-oncology expertise of members and providing access to a large patient population supported by a publicly funded health care system.
Key advantages of CBTC Membership include:
Linkage of community physicians and academic centres, opportunity to participate in multi-centre leading edge research, evaluation of research protocols through the CBTC expedited reviews, increased revenue from optimally funded clinical trials. Participation in the clinical research initiatives of the CBTNet.
There are Two Classes of Members:
Active - Active Membership is open to licensed physicians residing in Canada.
The Criteria For Active Membership Include:
- A neuro-oncologist, radiation oncologist, neuro-surgeon or clinician with an interest in brain tumour research and in clinical trials
- Associated clinical site/hospital must have an adequate patient volume
- Availability of CT/MRI scan, after-hours lab and pharmacy services in order to conduct the appropriate studies
- Disclosure of Site Profile Information for CBTC data base
- Abiding by CBTC Bylaws and Principles of Membership
- Annual Dues: (fee currently $250 per Member)
Associate - Membership is open to scientists, residents, trainees, radiation oncologists, clinicians, nurses or allied health professionals.
The Criteria For Associate Membership Include:
- A scientist, resident, trainee, radiation oncologist, clinician, nurse or allied health professional with an interest in brain tumour research and clinical trials
- Disclosure of Site Profile Information for CBTC data base
- Abiding by CBTC Principles of Membership
- No Annual Dues Fee.
